Mango is a tropical fruit, from the Mangifera indica tree that grows to be approximately 30 meters in height. The tree also produces flowers, that bloom towards the end of winter and leading into the spring. Whilst mangos are now grown throughout the warmer regions of the world, they are thought to have originated from Asia. Since they are now produced throughout the world, there are a around 130 to 150 varieties. The most common types for production in South America are Tommy Atkins, Palmer and Kent. The mango tree begins to bear its first fruit approximately 3 years after it has been planted. After 6 years it reaches full production and continues to produce fruit for 20 to 25 years.

Sensory Profile

Mango Puree has a dark yellow / orange color. It has a very sweet, tropical taste with a smooth texture. It reminds of a combination of orange, peach and pineapple. The flavour can be rather dominant in a blend with other fruit flavours.
